Annexure VI: Guidelines for Orations, Awards and Prizes

Any other future oration/awards/prizes as recommended by EC and adopted by the GB.

The above awards and orations shall be conferred annually to suitable candidates, if found, as per IADVL, WB Constitution. The selection and recommendation of the deserving candidate is to be done by the Academic Committee and is to be ratified by the EC.

All awards given by IADVL should be on the basis of application or nomination. Nomination can be made for member of IADVL including the EC as per IADVL, WB Constitution.

One member cannot apply or be nominated for more than two awards in the same year. A member who has received an award under any category cannot apply for the same category next year but can apply another category after one year.

A NOC obtained from the First/Corresponding Author should be made available by the applicants/recipients of various candidates for the awards, before final decision of the winner/incumbent, is decided upon.

Donations or legacies from members or well-wishers of the Association.

Donations for orations, awards and prizes will be accepted from members and others. The donated amount will be kept in a bank fixed deposit. The prize money, award, etc., shall be given from the interest of the deposit, accrued during the year. The prize shall consist of a memento or cash. Out of the said interest, the amount thus used will be 70% of the interest, while the remaining 30% will be kept with the Association in the form of fixed deposit. The donation money will be minimum Rs. 300000 for members and Rs.500000 from others (non-members). This amount shall be revised every 5 years. Every award should be for a limited period; awards existing for more than 10 years need to be reconsidered.

Such donation for awards /oration/prizes may be made in the name of a person or his/her direct relative, with direct considerable contribution in the field of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprology in the state of West Bengal and / or in our national / international scientific domain and / or for furthering the interest of IADVL, WB

 

Prof. B N Banerjee Memorial Oration

The oration date: 1st Day of CUTICON

Orator: Should be a National Speaker from outside the state of West Bengal and should be above 45 year

Name of Orator: Should be proposed by the Org. Body and selected by Academic Committee

Chairperson: The oration should ideally be chaired by the President of IADVL, WB

The expense of total oration shall be sponsored by IADVL, WB

Oration is always a plenary session. During the oration no parallel sponsored (or otherwise) scientific (or otherwise) programs or satellite symposia or any local tours should be arranged for the delegates.

Topic: Orator’s own academic choice of subject

 

Prof. R K Panja Memorial Oration

The oration date: 2nd Day of CUTICON

Orator: Should be a from within the state of West Bengal and should be above 45 year

Name of Orator: Should be proposed by the Org. Body and selected by Academic Committee

Chairperson: The oration should ideally be chaired by the President of IADVL, WB

The expense of total oration shall be sponsored by IADVL, WB

Oration is always a plenary session. During the oration no parallel sponsored (or otherwise) scientific (or otherwise)

programs or satellite symposia or any local tours should be arranged for the delegates.

Topic: Orator’s own academic choice of subject

 

Dr. Bhabesh Chandra Lahiri Memorial Oration
  1. Rs.50,000/- (Fifty Thousand only) will be contributed by the family of Late Dr. B C Lahiri. The entire amount will be kept in fixed deposit. Out of the interest, every year a memento bearing a coloured photo of Dr. Bhabesh Chandra Lahiri will be prepared and a certificate will be printed on good quality board paper to be presented to the orator.
  2. The oration should ideally be chaired by the President of IADVL, WB and the editor of IJD
  3. Every year the name of the selected orator is to be communicated to the family and a formal invitation to be issued to be present during the oration.
  4. Oration is always a plenary session. During the oration no parallel sponsored (or otherwise) scientific (or otherwise) programs or satellite symposia or any local tours should be arranged for the delegates.
  5. An applicant for this oration needs to be a life member of IADVL.
  6. The person selected should have made a significant contribution in any particular field of dermatology, venereology, and leprology.
  7. These contributions should have been published in one or more of the indexed journals of our specialty.
  8. Before this oration begins every year a brief introduction of late Dr. Bhabesh Chandra Lahiri (May be concised from the obituary published in IJDVL and IJD. Coondoo A. Obituary – Dr. B. C. Lahiri. Indian J Dermatol Venereol Leprol 2008; 74:699 http://www.ijdvl.com/article.asp?issn=0378-6323;year=2008;volume=74;issue=6;spage=699;epage=699;aulast=Coondoo) should be given, and his/her photograph projected on the screen.
  9. During this oration a banner of the oration (may be in digital format) must be displayed in the background on the stage.
  10. The Oration shall be during the MID CUTICON of IADVL WB every year commemorating this highly respected and beloved dermatologist of Bengal.

 

Lifetime Achievement Award
  1. A Gold Coin of Rs 50000/- (not exceed) shall be given to the awardee during the Inaugural Ceremony of CUTICON along with a Shawl and Certificate of Honor.
  2. This award which shall be dedicated to a senior life member, above 60-year age, of the association for his/her continuous, exemplary and selfless service for the betterment, development and upliftment of the name, fame and prestige of IADVL, WB in organisational, journal related and scientific activities of the association, for at least 10 years.
  3. The selection of the awardee shall be done by the EC.
  4. The EC shall consider various candidates for this award every year but may not select anyone in a particular year if eligibility and criteria of excellence are not met with.
  5. Hony. Secretary of IADVL WB will invite the awardee in advance to receive the award
  6. No member who has received the award previously shall be considered for the award for a second time

 

Prof. Salil K. Panja Award for Excellence in Dermatology
  1. Rs.50,000/-(Fifty Thousand only) will be contributed by Dr. Salil Kr. Panja. The entire amount will be kept in fixed deposit. Out of the interest, every year a memento will be prepared and a certificate will be printed on good quality board paper to be presented to the Awardee.
  2. The award shall be given for excellence in presentation or publication in Dermatology
  3. The presentation/publication must be done during the period od 1st January to 1st December of the previous calendar year
  4. The presentation/publication should not have received any award whatsoever previous to the application for the award
  5. Applicant must be a Life Member of IADVL, W.B. State Branch, the upper age limit of the awardee should be 45 years as on 31st December of the previous calendar year.
  6. Hony. Secretary of IADVL WB will invite application for the award by 31st May
  7. No member who has received the award previously shall not be considered for the award a second time
  8. Every year the name of the selected Awardee is to be communicated to the family and a formal invitation to be issued
  9. The Award shall be during the Inauguration of CUTICON WB every year
  10. The academic committee shall assess the applications and announce the results by 31st October. The decision of the academic committee shall be final in all respects
  11. The application for the award must contain –
    1. Life Membership Number of the applicant.
    2. C.V. of the applicant with special mention of contributions to the advancement of the subject of Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy and sub-specialties of Dermatology
    3. Authentic document of age proof (self-attested photocopy of Birth Certificate/PAN Card/Passport)
    4. Date of publication /presentation with proof thereof.
    5. Abstract of presentation or copy of publication.
    6. Declaration of conflict of interest.

The application should reach the Hony. Secretary, IADVL, W.B. State Branch by 31st August of that year.

 

IAISD-CODFI Fellowship Award
  1. Rs.50,000/-(Fifty Thousand only) will be contributed by IAISD. The entire amount will be kept in fixed deposit. Out of the interest, every year a memento will be prepared and a certificate will be printed on good quality board paper to be presented to the Awardee.
  2. Best original paper on Contact & Occupational Dermatitis published in IJD
  3. The Medal to be given during the AGBM
  4. The final process of selection will be done by the academic committee of IADVL WB and selection from the previous year publication
  5. The Medal should ideally be presented by the Editor IJD.

 

N B Das Memorial Award
  1. Rs.50,000/- (Fifty Thousand only) has been contributed by Dr. Nilay Kanti Das. The entire amount will be kept in fixed deposit. Out of the interest, every year a memento will be prepared and a certificate will be printed on good quality board paper to be presented to the Awardee.
  2. The Medal should ideally be presented by the President IADVL WB
  3. The Medal to be given during the Valedictory Session of the CUTICON WB of the respective year. In the event CUTICON WB is not being held during any year, the Medal to be given during the Annual General Body meeting of that year.
  4. Every year the name of the selected award winner is to be communicated to the family and a formal invitation to be issued to be present during the award giving ceremony.
  5. selection of the Medal Award Winner
    1. Post-graduate trainee obtaining the highest marks in the MD (Dermatology, Venereology, Leprosy) under West Bengal University of Health Sciences will be selected from candidates appearing in the regular batch, for the Medal Award
      1. Essential Criteria: The candidate has to be a Provisional Life Member (PLM) of IADVL
      2. Desirable Criteria: The candidate applying for Life Membership of IADVL before applying for the award.
      3. In case the candidate obtaining highest marks is not a PLM of IADVL; the selection will be done among candidates who are IADVL PLM and obtained next highest marks. A rank certificate from WBUHS mentioning the highest marks obtained in the subject. iv.
        In case two persons obtaining the same marks the priority will be given [1+2+3] (in the following order)

        1. Publications in Indexed Journals
        2. Presentation in International, National, Zonal, State Conference
        3. Applicants already applied for Life Membership
    2. Selection will be done on the basis of application against the notice issued by IADVL WB in this regard.
    3. The applicants will apply with his/her
      1. Mark-sheet of MD (Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy)
      2. Medical registration certificate
      3. One page Curriculum Vitae
      4. PLM number of IADVL
    4. If possible IADVL LM application details
    5. The final process of selection will be done by the academic committee of IADVL WB
